Before the Vacation: Travel Tips for When You’re About to be On Your Way

Get Shopping Done Before the Week of Departure

If you want to have bathing suits or you need to get the kids some warmer weather vacation clothes and outfits, it’s best to get that done as quickly as you can. This also depends on whether you’re going to be able to shop seasonally; you may have to go online to find clothes or gear that isn’t ‘in season’ and order early to avoid it being late, so don’t wait until the last minute to do that.

Pack Early

If you’re not going to be using any of the things you’re bringing on vacation, then packing early should not be an obstacle. Packing early is not only ideal, it’s necessary. Packing in the last 24 hours is a recipe for disaster. You will procrastinate and you will ultimately forget something on your list.

Try making a game of it when packing with family and have everyone start planning different outfits at the same time with the suitcases out. Let everyone know that they need at least five outfits and two bathing suits, or the equivalent of what your trip is going to require. When everyone’s pitching in to get it done, it can seem like it goes faster because you’re all tackling it at the same time and so no one feels alone in packing misery. Put on some music and watch the packing process begin!

Wear Comfortable Clothes and Shoes

If you’re going to be walking or going through the airport or getting on a plane, you’re going to want to travel comfortably. Wear layers and clothes that you feel like you wouldn’t mind spending eight or ten hours in. Regulating temperature for comfort is key!

Ride to Takeoff in Style

Why not take a ride in a Toronto airport limo to your departure? Hiring a limo service is a great incentive to be all packed and ready to go for that leave time from the home or hotel to the airport. If you’ve been expending a lot of energy to get ready for this trip, then why not have a car arrive and take everyone to the airport in style? Live a little!
